There is no getting away from the fact that La Manga Club is the jewel in the tennis circuits crown when it comes to holidays. But what is it that makes it so special? Is it the 28 courts, 13 of which are floodlit? Is it the fact that as a tennis player, you can choose your surface, from a menu of clay courts, hard courts or artificial grass courts? Or is it the tennis centre gym and spa, complete with its sauna, plunge pool and Jacuzzi? Or perhaps it?s the fact that you can combine tennis with any number of other sports, or eat in a whole host of different restaurants, all of which are located on your doorstep that makes La Manga so special? It?s hard to say really, but one thing that really helps La Manga in its quest to remain a world-class tennis centre is its tuition.
At La Manga Club there truly is tennis tuition for all. There is no such thing as a player who?s too experienced or too inexperienced to benefit from what?s on offer. From tiny tots to centenarians, no one needs to miss out here when it comes to upping their game. What?s more, for parents with young kids who aren?t ready to hit a ball about yet, the Junior Club, which is only a stone?s throw from the tennis facilities, is a club that caters for little ones from 3 months to 12 years of age. So, no matter whether you?re planning just a friendly knock about or a serious session at one of La Manga?s academies, you can be assured that your kids are being well looked after and having lots of fun while you play.
There are a host of tennis pros ready and willing to help you improve your game at La Manga. What?s more, at the racket centre, you?ll find a huge choice of rackets for hire and sale as well as lots of free advice on offer should you need or want it. There?s even a stringing and grip service available, should you find yourself in the position of having damaged one of your rackets mid-match.
In fact, so simply superior are the tennis facilities at La Manga that the Lawn Tennis Association use this as their overseas training base; it?s a Tennis Europe Centre of Excellence; the Russian Tennis Federation held their championships here in 2013 and Kevin Anderson, the South African player ranked 27 in the ATP World rankings came to the resort to take time out from his training. So if that?s not a good enough pedigree, what is?
When it comes to tuition, you won?t go far wrong with the private coaching that?s on offer, but if you prefer something more structured, there are various packages to choose from. These include:
The 10-hour Adult Academy. This academy runs on weekday mornings and is arguably one of the resort?s most sought after academies. The week long academy is split into five, two hour sessions and focuses on all strokes as well as boosting tournament skills.
The 25-hour Adult Gold Academy. This more intensive academy takes place morning and afternoon on weekdays and is geared up for anyone seeking to really take their game to a new level. With the mornings spent focusing on strokes, the afternoon sessions are given over to tactics and match play. This is a great week-long boost for any tennis enthusiast.
The 10-hour Weekend Warriors Academy. Taking place over a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, this academy is one of the most intensive available at La Manga. Mixing drills training with live match play, even the most experienced player around will walk away from this academy with new skills and game plans.
The Junior Academy. Again running Monday to Friday, the junior academy theoretically runs year round, but is subject to a minimum of 3 players. Split into age ranges, this academy is open to anyone aged 3 to 19 years. A great way to get kids into the sport or to take their tennis to a new level, these Junior academies are a huge hit with parents and kids alike.
The 15-25 hour Pro Academy. Geared towards anyone who already plays at an advanced level, this academy focuses on technical, tactical, physical and mental training to move your tennis to an even higher level. Run as standard during school holiday periods, this academy can be organised year round if there are a minimum of 3 participants.
