I have just spent the last week at La Manga Club and stayed in a Los Olivos apartment with 3 friends. The apartment was fine and worked well for the 4 of us, having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was also located within a about a pleasant 3 minute walk to the tennis centre.
We all signed up for the weekly tennis academy and ended up in different groups due to our differing abilities. We had been assessed on the Sunday afternoon and the academies started on the Monday morning.
I must say the tennis tuition during the academy course was first class and this was the general consensus of our party and the other participants of my tennis group. We had tuition for 2 hours each morning from Monday to Friday and did also arrange a couple or private lessons, to enable me to focus on specific areas of my game.
Each afternoon there was a social game and tennis competitions arranged, but did not take part in these. They did seem to be quite well attended.
We enjoyed the resort itself and as we did not have a car we did not go off the resort itself. There are 2 supermarkets and we had a couple of meals at the apartment, including a lovely BBQ on the terrace. We also tried a few of the restaurants which were of a good quality and reasonably priced.
We went to the tie break restaurant which was very pleasant for lunch time snacks. The pool at Los Olivos was very relaxing and we spent most of our afternoons just chilling by the pool.
I would certainly recommend a tennis holiday at La Manga for those who wish to improve their game or if you just want to play tennis in a beautiful setting in the sun. Los Olivos worked well for accommodation, although it seemed that all of the villas and apartments that we did see when walking around the resort all seemed very nice.
